About Alexandra

Alexandra Garrett is a floral designer and visual artist in Richmond, Virginia. Through Alexandra Garrett & Co., she curates and designs fine art for everyday use: botanical prints, cards, bookmarks, mugs, totes, and paper goods, all made from flowers she arranges or sculpts by hand.

She photographs her still lifes. Some begin as fresh arrangements, photographed once they’re finished so the flowers last long after they fade. Others begin as paper flowers she makes petal by petal, built to hold their shape for the camera. Those images become signed prints on archival paper, and now they go further, onto the things people reach for every morning: a coffee mug, a bookmark tucked into a favorite book, a tote on the way to the market. She also makes a small number of limited-edition prints by hand.

Visual art has always been her practice. She spent fifteen years as a master makeup artist, including beauty artistry for brands like Birchbox, and became a lifestyle photographer along the way. Then came OOMI Jewelry, a handcrafted line she built from the ground up with brass, silver, vintage cabochons, pearls, and stones. Paper sculpture brought it all together and led her to real flowers. She put her own name on the company because everything she makes comes from the same hands.

She loves mixing textures and mixing color. Her work goes bold, goes neutral, goes soft, and it almost always ends up bold.

She’s a wife and a mother. When she’s not elbow-deep in stems, she’s playing video games with her husband and child or chasing their dogs around a field.
